As the third largest producer of inks in North America, INX International has delivered many innovative contributions to the label and packaging industry. With the backing of Sakata INX worldwide operations, our world-renowned Research & Development Centers are responsible for the development of many unique inks and coatings solutions used for commercial, packaging, and digital applications. We are a company dedicated to coloring a safe and sustainable future and that starts with the formulation of high-performance inks and coatings that are sustainably sourced, have minimal impact on the environment and consider end-of-life scenarios. INX Genesis washable inks are an innovative example of our dedication to sustainability and a circular economy.

Genesis™washable labelinks represent an abundance of environmental, efficiency and print quality benefits. Available for both gravure and flexographic printing, they are de-inkable from PET films and floatable with roll-fed OPP labels in the recycling process. The inks are printed directly on the film without the need of a primer to be washable. During the recycling of PET films the ink is removed from the label substrate in caustic wash. Due to our special formulation and pigment selection there is minimal bleed in the caustic bath which results in an insignificant impact on recycled PET discoloration. This allows for increased recovery of high-quality, clean, recycled PET resin flakes.

Since the ink system can be used for floatable OPP labels as well, customers are able to print multiple label types with one system. Floatable applications often requires the ink to remain on the substrate after exposure to the caustic bath solution. In both recycling instances, new clear bottles can be made from the circular reuse of recovered material, contributing to a circular economy, boosting the worldwide recycling rate and reducing the volume of plastic bottles in the marine environment.

Genesis GS for gravure printing is a patented technology that meets and exceeds the PET-CG-02 Critical Guidance Protocol established by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) for washable and recyclable PET shrink applications. APR’s critical guidance protocol is a multi-industry consensus of key issues related to the recycling of post-consumer PET bottles. It directs innovators to conduct specific testing per established procedures, and the recognition is based on the innovation either meeting or exceeding the most challenging and strictest guidance criteria.
