Tower Products LLC, a manufacturer of environmentally sensitive pressroom chemistry, has earned certification by the NSF for SmartFlex Flexo Wash Plus. This product is an acclaimed cleaning technology for water-based flexographic inks featuring a low VOC content, minimal odor and a high flashpoint.

NSF International was founded in 1944 as the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) to standardize sanitation and food safety requirements. NSF is an accredited, independent third-party certification body that tests and certifies products to verify they meet public health and safety standards.

Products that meet these standards bear the NSF mark, which will appear on the product label.

This certification is in two categories (A4 and A8) for the application of SmartFlex Flexo Wash Plus in an indirect food packaging environment, specifically to clean flexographic plates, machinery and related printing areas that need to be cleaned.  

The certification gives the customer another level of assurance that the cleaning product that they are using on plates and equipment is deemed safe to use in a food environment. It  is particularly important in the corrugated marketplace, but it also applies to any food packaging printing process.
