Label award winners announced, Appvion tabs new president and more

This year, the Label Industry Global Awards is presenting two special awards to two industry greats who have led with dedication and passion, making an indelible mark on the industry.

The winner of the R. Stanton Avery Special Recognition Award, sponsored by Avery Dennison, is Ferdinand Rüesch IV, senior vice president, global key accounts, Anchor Investor Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, Gallus Ferd. Rüesch AG. This award recognizes outstanding individuals who reflect the key values and vision of Stan Avery and his breakthroughs that founded the label industry.

Paul Teachout has been announced as the winner of this year’s Label Industry Global Achievement award, which celebrates individuals who have made significant lifetime contributions to the label industry both on the national and international stages.

Teachout currently holds the position of technical marketing and content specialist at Harper Corporation of America. He is currently chair of the FTA and sits on the boards of multiple educational institutions.  He has actively supported the Phoenix Challenge High School competition since 2008 and is chair of the TLMI label competition.

Meanwhile, Appvion has announced that Kevin Clunie will assume the role of president of Appvion. “Having been a customer of Appvion for many years I am grateful to have been asked to lead such a talented team who I have seen first-hand delivering at the very highest level,” says Clunie. “It’s a fascinating time for our industry in terms of growth, a changing regulatory landscape and the need for high performance Phenol Free thermal chemistry to enable disruptive applications such as linerless and RFID. This being a Labelexpo year for North America means I am very much looking forward to meeting with so many partners next month in Chicago to continue those conversations.”
