Constantia Flexibles, a flexible packaging supplier, has announced that its mono-polypropylene (PP) laminate for the Pharma industry, PERPETUA, has received Technology Approval from RecyClass. This recognition underscores the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable packaging and the circular economy.

PERPETUA, a laminate with a BOPP/metBOPP/CPP structure, was evaluated by RecyClass under the guidance of Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE), undergoing extensive testing to confirm its high recyclability. In addition to its high recyclability, PERPETUA provides excellent barrier protection against moisture, oxygen, and light, while significantly reducing global warming potential by 48 to 55% compared to functionally similar multi-material laminates.

Additionally, PERPETUA ALTA recently earned the RecyClass Letter of Compatibility for Design for Recycling – class B, following its Technology Approval in 2022.

“We are extremely proud to receive this Technology Approval for PERPETUA and the recent Letter of Compatibility for PERPETUA ALTA,” states Roberto Martin, head of innovation laminates at Constantia Flexibles. “This recognition strengthens our position as innovators in mono-PP laminates, and we are ready to meet future demands as the PP recycling stream in Europe develops.”

This RecyClass approval sets a new standard for recyclable packaging materials and opens up new opportunities for brands seeking more sustainable solutions that meet the highest recyclability standards.
