Giave is helping label converters bridge the gap between digital and conventional flexo printing with the Gialux. The company’s all-servo, UV/LED mid-web flexo press measures 34″-42″ wide. It is also made to order for more profitable craft beer labels, shrink sleeves and in-mold labels. Additionally, the press now supports short-run flexible packaging.

Many converters still have a reluctance to embrace UV/LED curing inks for indirect food contact packaging. However new inks, barrier overprint coatings, lamps, and new technologies have emerged to make these new heights capable. Giave will be showcasing these technological innovations at its plant in Barcelona.

Giave, based in Barcelona, Spain, has spent two years developing a high performance UV/LED flexo technology with gravure and offset quality for high speeds without solvents. A new mid-web flexo press answers demand for short-run flexible packaging for indirect food contact, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, shrink sleeve and in-mold labels. Plus, the unit can also be configured for folding cartons and paperboard. Digital imprint enhancements and personalization is also possible inline.
