Among other highlights, the company’s portfolio of RFID-enabled labeling solutions have been upgraded to high-performance UCODE 9 chips.

Schreiner ProTech, a Germany-based global leader in developing and manufacturing innovative functional labels with value-added benefits for the automotive and engineering-based industries, will highlight its enhanced, customizable RFID labeling solutions portfolio at LogiMAT, March 24-26 in Stuttgart, Germany. At Hall 2, Booth 2B05, the company’s industrial labeling specialists will discuss a variety of updates that address modern manufacturing needs, including an expansion of its portfolio to next-generation UCODE 9 chips.
A central feature of the new chip family is its “self-adjust technology.” When the reader responds, it analyzes the signal quality and, for instance, automatically adjusts reception amplification. As a result, readability remains stable even under changing conditions, and read errors are significantly reduced—a clear advantage for process reliability. The newest-generation chips are ideally suited for use in logistics, manufacturing, healthcare, and other sectors. The UCODE 9 family creates additional potential for optimizing processes, enhancing efficiency, and reducing costs.
RFID-enabled labels can perform differently depending on the specific industrial environments in which they are utilized. For instance, applications involving glass, metal, or elevated potential for electrostatic discharge (ESD) often require tailored RFID labeling solutions to ensure optimized performance.
“The more demanding an industrial manufacturing or logistics scenario, the quicker it becomes clear how suitably an RFID label has been customized for that environment,” says Natalia Biedulski, RFID Product Manager for Schreiner ProTech. “While standard ‘off the shelf’ solutions may exhibit less-than-ideal results in demanding cuscumstances, the value delivered by individually customized RFID systems allow manufacturers to expediently recoup their investment.”
The need for optimal RFID performance is apparent in various industrial settings. Together with Schreiner ProTech, a market leader in the field of water treatment equipped its water treatment systems with RFID. The labels ensure that the system automatically recognizes the materials via a key-lock principle called Item Match Control, and guides the user through a corresponding menu step by step. This user-guided navigation is customized to the respective substrate, and of great help to the user while clearly reducing the potential for errors.
In addition, many manufacturers are currently determining how best to automate certain processes; tailored RFID solutions can help streamline this transformative journey.
At LogiMAT, Schreiner ProTech will highlight two solutions in particular. The company’s Robust RFID-Labels consist of an integrated RFID tag secured via the label’s special construction. This avoids potential damage to the RFID chip due to mechanical impact during the manufacturing and handling processes, or harsh environments during the shipping, warehousing or operation phases. The result is more reliable RFID chip performance from production to final use – even on difficult-to-label containers.
Meanwhile, Schreiner ProTech’s RFID DistaFerr product family addresses the heightened physical requirements for RFID labeling on metal surfaces. The portfolio’s dual-band antennas provide frequency agnosticism to overcome a longstanding logistics challenge: Labels for on-metal use are typically optimized for a specific frequency – for example, ETSI in Europe, or FCC in the NAFTA zone and Asia – leaving labels identifiable only within these specific ranges. RFID DistaFerr solutions are designed to circumvent such readability issues for goods shipped and received across different continents.
