Herma UK has strengthened its technical support capabilities with the appointment of Matthew Sutton as sales technical manager and the rollout of a new Technical Partnership Service (TPS) aimed at helping label converters make more informed material and adhesive decisions.

The move comes as converters face increasing complexity driven by sustainability requirements, including the use of recycled materials, wash-off adhesives, downgauging, and liner optimization.

According to Herma, the TPS program is designed to provide earlier-stage technical guidance during the specification and quotation process, helping converters reduce rework, avoid re-specification cycles, and improve on-press performance.

“Many of the challenges converters face on press can be traced back to earlier material choices,” says Sutton. “As sustainability initiatives accelerate, the risk of unintended consequences increases. Our goal is to help customers make more confident decisions upfront.”

The service includes support for material and adhesive selection, structured trial design, and root-cause analysis for technical issues. Herma says the program is intended to deliver more predictable outcomes and streamline project approvals.

Sutton brings experience in self-adhesive materials and pressure-sensitive adhesives, with a background spanning both large-format and label converting environments. His role will focus on aligning material specifications with converting processes, application requirements, and end-of-life considerations.

Herma says the expanded technical offering reflects its focus on supporting converters as they navigate evolving regulatory and sustainability demands.
