The mjet print engine is based on Kyocera KJ4A print technology with a native resolution of 600 dpi and four grayscales.

Inkjet specialist mprint gmbh, a Germany-based manufacturer of digital UV inkjet printing equipment with a North American sales and service organization – mprint, LLC – based in Charlotte, NC, has announced two new products to close the gap in its narrow web machine portfolio – the mjet 4c multi-color print engine to be retrofitted to existing equipment such as flexo machines and the mlabel compact, a lower cost, smaller footprint UV inkjet press with integrated converting. Like the company’s flagship UV inkjet hybrid press mlabel Gen3, the mjet print engine is built based on the Kyocera KJ4A print technology with a native resolution of 600 dpi and four grayscales and includes automatic print head cleaning as well as mprint’s trademark ink recirculation to minimize ink waste used during the head purging process. The mjet print engine is available in various widths, however, mprint expects that most applications will be for existing equipment with 10” or 13” print width. This technology allows the owner of a flexo press to turn it into a true digital hybrid at cost well below a new machine. The unit can also be integrated into any other OEM converting equipment, booklet or extended content label machines, packaging lines, etc. The mlabel compact incorporates the mjet print engine and combines it with laminating and rotary diecutting and variable sheeting. This particular machine is only available in four colors (CMYK) and at a print width of 10”, and will not have the modular design of the mlabel Gen3, to which flexo print stations, Kurz’ Digital Metal Liner module, RFID insertion, etc. can be added. The mlabel compact was developed based on customer requests who are mainly in variable data and technical/durable label printing. If additional options and colors are required, the customers are steered towards the mlabel Gen3 and all its flexibility, which can also be initially outfitted to only 10” print width and later expanded to its full 13” print width capability. Adding these two new products gives mprint a seamless UV inkjet equipment portfolio from highly flexible single color print engines, the monojet series, to full color hybrid presses with up to eight colors plus spot varnish / spot colors, the mlabel Gen3. mprint is a manufacturer of digital printing technology for narrow web and direct-to-part applications. The company, based in Baiersbronn, Germany, has been in business since 2000 and has over 80 machine installations in Europe and the United States. One of its most recent installations was at 2017 Eugene Singer Award winner Electronic Imaging Materials, Inc. in Keene, NH, USA, a company featured in the Jan/Feb 2018 issue of L&NW.
