Schreiner Group – a Germany-based manufactuer of innovative high-tech labels and functional parts for healthcare, mobility and general industry – has appointed Jens Vor der Brüggen to lead its Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) department. Vor der Brüggen ascends to this new role after several years leading Schreienr Group’s Research and Development segment. He succeeds TIM leader Robert Weiss, who will support the change while transitioning to his new role as Senior Management Consultant, Technology Management.

Since joining the company in 2002, Vor der Brüggen has played a key role in shaping Schreiner Group’s technological development through various positions.

“Research and development is a crucial driver for the future viability of our company, and our task is to align it in such a way that we create genuine added value for the markets,” explains Vor der Brüggen. “At Schreiner ProTech, the focus is on developing solutions for the automotive industry and other industrial customers that perform reliably under the toughest conditions – from Protective Films to Pressure Compensation Seals. In the Schreiner MediPharm division, on the other hand, the focus is on the safety of patients and users. What both divisions have in common is the ambition to strengthen the competitiveness of our customers through targeted innovations.”

TIM as a strategic center for forward-looking technologies

Schreiner Group’s Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) department transcends a conventional development function, combining a variety of areas of expertise and forward-thinking skills under a common umbrella. These include:

  • Research and Development (R&D) and its three specialized teams – Basic Technologies, Functional Components, and Laboratory/Prototyping
  • The Schreiner LogiData, Schreiner ProSecure, Schreiner Services, and Schreiner Digital Solutions Competence Centers
  • Cross-functional Innovation Management, which is focused on Development and Patent Management, and includes an in-house Pilot Plant.

The development of smart and functional solutions – for example, in the field of RFID technology, in which the LogiData competence center plays a leading role – is a special focus. That is where both products and processes for integrating smart technologies are developed. At the same time, Innovation Management, with strategic foresight, ensures that promising ideas are systematically identified, assessed, and developed to the level of marketability.

With the change at the top of TIM, Schreiner Group is building on the successful work of recent years and continuing its course towards future technologies.
