Techlan Ltd and Herma UK are marking two years of collaboration focused on advancing circular solutions for silicone-coated release liner waste in the UK, with the initiative delivering measurable environmental impact.

To date, the partnership has enabled the recycling of more than 300 tons of release liner and helped avoid over 200 tons of CO₂ emissions, while supporting 17 companies across the label industry and beyond.

Silicone release liner has long been a persistent waste challenge due to its limited recyclability. Through the collaboration, Techlan has developed and scaled a process that cleans and restores used liner material for reuse in industrial and converting applications, rather than breaking it down.

Herma UK has contributed material expertise and market insight, helping identify suitable waste streams and expand awareness of liner recovery solutions across the industry.

The companies say the initiative reflects growing demand for practical, scalable sustainability solutions, as converters and brand owners face increasing pressure to reduce waste and improve circularity performance.
