Yerecic Label has announced the successful pre-qualification of four label constructions through the How2Recycle program. The move reinforces the company’s commitment to simplifying sustainability for brand and retail partners.

By obtaining pre-qualification letters for its SustainLabel! Preferred and SustainLabel! BOPP materials for PET packaging, Yerecic Label helps brands streamline their own How2Recycle label applications. When customers apply for a How2Recycle label for their final packaging, they can now include these pre-qualified letters, expediting review for the label components already verified by Yerecic Label.

“Pre-qualifying our label constructions through How2Recycle adds real value for our customers,” says Elizabeth Yerecic, EVP of sales and sustainability, Yerecic Label. “It’s one more way we help simplify designing for recyclability – by doing the groundwork that helps brands move faster toward their packaging goals.”

It is important to note that obtaining a How2Recycle label does not automatically mean that packaging is recyclable. Instead, the label communicates to consumers whether and how a package should be recycled, including the appropriate stream for collection or if it is not recyclable at all. Yerecic Label’s pre-qualified letters apply specifically to its label constructions. Customers are still required to submit their entire package for How2Recycle review to receive a final label assignment.

“Submitting our first label constructions for pre-qualification gave our team valuable insight into How2Recycle’s process,” says Deanna Welsh, product development cross-functional team lead. “Now we have a clear, repeatable procedure in place to continue expanding our library of pre-qualified materials, and we’re ready to help customers navigate their own How2Recycle submissions.”

Trusted sustainability partner

In addition to their established SustainLabel! constructions, Yerecic Label continues to strengthen its role as a trusted sustainability partner by helping customers navigate evolving labeling standards. As the How2Recycle Pro Label system rolls out in 2026, the company is promoting awareness and encouraging faster adoption by incorporating a stop sign notice on all customer proofs that include a How2Recycle icon. This visual cue serves as a reminder for brands to review their packaging artwork against the new Pro Label design.

Yerecic Label also provides customers with the label specifications needed for their own How2Recycle pre-qualification submissions that fall outside of Yerecic Label’s established pre-qualified constructions, bridging the gap between innovation, compliance, and real-world recyclability.
