Screen printing is a highly versatile printing method capable of delivering exceptional precision and high material coverage. The experts at HEIDELBERG-Gallus have invested in significant resources in the advancement of this technology. Most notably, HEIDELBERG-Gallus established a dedicated demonstration facility in Ivyland, PA, USA. The first of its kind in North America, the Gallus Screeny Support and Demo Center enables customers to see the company’s newest product innovations.

Screen printing allows for ink layer thicknesses ranging from 5 to 280 microns, enabling applications that require both fine detail and substantial ink volume. Due to its high ink laydown ability, this process ensures excellent opacity and vibrant color reproduction, even on dark or absorbent substrates.

“Screen printing enables a broad spectrum of unique effects that are unattainable with other printing technologies,” comments Anthony Wojciechowski, product specialist, Screeny, HEIDELBERG-Gallus. “This capability not only enhances product differentiation and visual impact at the point of sale but also provides functional advantages for industrial and technical applications. In many cases, screen printing offers a more cost-effective solution compared to alternative printing methods — particularly when high ink laydown, special effects, or functional coatings are required.”

Additionally, screen printing supports the use of large-particle pigments — such as those required for metallic or glitter effects — and can accommodate high-viscosity inks for creating raised structures, including tactile elements like braille or embossed 3D effects.

“With Gallus Screeny, you will profit from 40 years of experience in the screen-printing market,” states Wojciechowski. “Gallus is the only company offering the whole product range: from printing machines with fully integrated screen-printing stations, in-house developed and produced screen printing materials, as well as all necessary equipment to prepare a screen-printing cylinder, including the tooling.”

Local service and support is a key factor in HEIDELBERG-Gallus’ success. The Gallus Screeny Support and Demo Center is located just 45 minutes north of Philadelphia, where HEIDELBERG maintains inventory for US and Canadian customers. This allows for short lead times. Customers and prospective customers can also receive training and demonstrations on prepress equipment via Microsoft Teams from Switzerland or Ivyland. Visits to our Ivyland facility are encouraged, as well.

“All components are developed in our own factories by our own experienced printers, technicians, and engineers — everything from one source,” explains Oliver Vetter, head of Screen Printing, HEIDELBERG-Gallus. “We can also adapt non-Gallus screen printing systems to the Gallus Screeny system. In addition, we have just released our own brand-new screen print unit for non-Gallus and Gallus presses, making the conversion seamless.”

Screeny’s versatility extends across numerous product lines seeing substantial labeling growth. “Screeny plays a key role in the production of all kinds of labels — from wine, liquor, spirit, and beer bottles to beauty products such as shampoo, lotion, soap, perfume, and creams,” says Phyllis Klubert  director, Product management and operations, HEIDELBERG-Gallus. “Beyond beauty and beverages, Screeny is also widely used for labeling candles, technical equipment, medical devices, electronics, and many other products, making it an essential component in both consumer and industrial packaging solutions.”

“Over the past two years, we have worked with our own experienced printers, engineers, and technicians to incorporate everyone’s ‘wish list’ and create the best screen-printing unit available for the market,” remarks Vetter. “By leveraging our in-house expertise, we were able to gather feedback directly from our customers. After extensive testing, our new Gallus Screeny Printing Unit has made a successful debut at several customer facilities in Europe. We have no doubt that our US and Canadian customers will be equally impressed with the results.”

HEIDELBERG-Gallus will also boast a strong presence at Labelexpo Europe, which will take place September 16-19, 2025, in Barcelona, Spain. Attendees are encouraged to learn more about Screeny and the new Screeny printing unit in Booth 3E23 and 3E29 at the event.
