Empowering your business to ‘do more’ with Domino Advanced Operator Training

In a market where efficiency, quality, and operator expertise directly influence converters’ profitability, Domino continues to raise the bar with its Advanced Operator Training program. Designed to deepen technical knowledge and sharpen production performance, the program turns skilled operators into true production leaders while ensuring consistent in-house functionality. L&NW recently caught up with Matt Condon, Operations Manager for Domino Digital Printing North America, to learn more.

L&NW: What is Advanced Operator Training?

MC: Advanced Operator Training is next-level instruction that builds on the foundational knowledge of operators running a Domino N-Series digital press or K-Series digital inkjet printer. It’s structured in two tiers — Advanced Level 2 and Advanced Level 3 — with each level consisting of two weeks of training: one week at Domino and another on-site at the converter’s facility.

L&NW: Why is this training important?

MC: Quite simply, it allows converters to fully maximize uptime and productivity while reducing downtime and waste. This program expands operators’ technical understanding—not only how to efficiently set up and run jobs—but also how to maintain, diagnose, and repair the N-Series press or K-Series inkjet printer when needed. Think of it as having your own in-house Domino expert available 24/7. The more capable and confident your operators are, the more efficient and productive your business becomes.

L&NW: How does Advanced Operator Training benefit converters in practical terms?

MC: The short answer is: “time is money”. When operators are highly trained, job setups are faster, waste is reduced, and the Domino press (or Domino inkjet printer) runs more efficiently. That directly translates to cost savings for the converter in materials and ink.

Beyond that, well-trained operators ensure consistent print quality—a crucial differentiator in today’s competitive marketplace. Labels produced on a Domino press reflect the converter’s reputation and capability, so empowering operators to deliver excellence every time is key.

And when unexpected issues occur, trained operators can often resolve them immediately, minimizing downtime. Domino’s Service & Support team is always available, of course, but our goal is to help converters become as independent and self-sufficient as possible.  It’s a recipe for success.

So ultimately, at the end of the day, this training is designed to help converters grow their business by giving them the tools and knowledge to ‘do more’…  to generate more profit per job, to provide more capacity in a given day, to get more labels out the door faster, and to put more money in their pocket sooner. And in doing so, it keeps their customers happy and coming back for more.

L&NW: Who should converters contact for more info or to schedule training?

MC: I’d be happy to discuss training opportunities. Please contact me by email at matthew.condon@domino-na.com or by phone at (224) 223-2340.
